Appeared in Soho Rep's world premiere of "Give me Carmelita Tropicana!"  Written by Tony award winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and Alina Troyano (aka Carmelita Tropicana). Directed by Eric Ting.

Here's what folks had to say about "Give Me Carmelita Tropicana!"

"There are moments of sheer comic bliss, often thanks to Chukwu’s dry delivery..."
     - Helen Shaw, The New Yorker

"Branden (embodied with flawless comic precision by Ugo Chukwu)""Chukwu’s Branden, whose self-satirizing preening is tuned at just the right frequency."
"Chukwu pirouettes through this kind of winkingly pompous spiel with agility and verve."
"Chukwu—conjuring up Steve Martin as possessed by Lily Tomlin in
All of Me"
     -
Sara Holdren Vulture

"Chukwu is dryly hilarious and charming as the play’s straight man (so to speak)"
     - David Cote, The Observer

"Chukwu deftly toggles between realism and caricature in his portrayal of Jacobs-Jenkins, winkingly inviting us into this world of unreliable narrators and changing camera angles."
     - Zachary Stewart, TheaterMania

"Chukwu, meanwhile, is the comic ideal of a successful, critically acclaimed playwright's avatar: a little vain, a little clueless, a little neurotic.  He gets to do some hysterical slapstick....with Troyano that makes you buy Chukwu actually is her former star student..."
     - Lauren Theisen, The Defector
